Palmdale Secures $1 Million Grant for High-Speed Rail Station: A Game-Changer for the Future

Palmdale is on the fast track to transformation! On January 10, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced a major win for the City of Palmdale and the California High-Speed Rail Authority—a $1 million Reconnecting Communities grant to help bring the Palmdale High-Speed Rail Station one step closer to reality!

With this funding, Palmdale will conduct a groundbreaking study to create a pedestrian and bike-friendly underpass for the city’s bustling transit corridor, making travel safer, easier, and more accessible for everyone.

🏗️ A Bold Vision for the Future

The East Avenue Q Crossings and Complete Street Study will explore ways to eliminate transportation barriers caused by rail lines while improving connectivity, safety, and accessibility for disadvantaged communities. The project includes:
Transforming East Avenue Q into a Complete Street for better traffic flow and pedestrian access.
Designing a road underpass to bypass Union Pacific and Metrolink rail lines.
Building a pedestrian overcrossing to seamlessly link neighborhoods with the future Palmdale High-Speed Rail Station.

“This grant is a monumental step forward for our community,” said Palmdale Mayor Richard J. Loa. “We are building a brighter, more connected future by improving infrastructure that ensures everyone has access to transportation, jobs, healthcare, and education.”

💰 Investment in Progress

The City of Palmdale is leading the charge with a $125,000 contribution, while project partners High Desert Corridor Joint Powers Agency (HDC JPA) and the California High-Speed Rail Authority are adding $50,000 and $75,000 in services, respectively.

“The funding we’ve secured will enhance transit accessibility and drive economic growth across the region,” added Palmdale Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt.

🌎 A High-Speed Future is Coming!

The Palmdale Station will be a key hub, linking:
