Homicide Investigation Underway in Newhall After Woman Found Dead
Homicide detectives with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the death of a woman whose body was discovered in her apartment on Nandina Lane in Newhall.
The woman, in her 20s, was found dead inside her apartment in the 21300 block of Nandina Lane, off Dockweiler Drive. The L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the discovery but has not released the woman's identity as they await notification of her next of kin.
Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a welfare check at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, where they found the woman, who was declared dead at the scene.
Lt. Mike Modica from the Homicide Bureau stated that it is too early to confirm whether the death was a homicide. No further details, including the cause or manner of death, have been released. Homicide investigators worked overnight into Thursday at the scene, and sheriff’s department vehicles were still visible at the location the following morning.
