Egg Truck Crash Causes Major Delays on 5 Freeway in East Los Angeles

A major traffic incident early Monday morning left the southbound 5 Freeway in East Los Angeles littered with eggs and debris, leading to significant delays for commuters.

The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. when an egg delivery truck reportedly clipped an overpass just south of the East L.A. interchange near Indiana Street. The impact severely damaged the trailer, spilling its cargo across multiple lanes.

Part of the big rig is completely torn open, and as we zoom in, you can see the name “Good Eggs”on the truck.

Authorities issued a SigAlert, shutting down four southbound lanes while crews worked to clear the wreckage. As of 6:45 a.m., traffic was only moving through a single open lane, with officials estimating the closure would remain in effect until around 9:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The crash caused significant congestion, with southbound traffic backed up as far as the 110 Freeway. Northbound drivers also experienced delays due to onlookers slowing down to view the wreckage.

Commuters were advised to seek alternate routes as cleanup efforts continued. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
