Marcus Jordan Arrested in Florida on DUI and Drug Charges

Marcus Jordan, the 34-year-old son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, was arrested in Florida on multiple charges, including driving under the influence (DUI), drug possession, property damage, and resisting arrest without violence. According to an arrest affidavit and reports from multiple news sources, Jordan was taken into custody by Maitland Police early Tuesday morning and booked into the Orange County Jail.

Details of the Arrest

The incident occurred around 1:14 a.m. on February 4 when Maitland police officers noticed a car with its headlights on, stuck on railroad tracks near Greenwood Road and Mechanic Street. Upon investigation, officers discovered that the vehicle had previously fled from a traffic stop initiated by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

Officers detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle and observed that Jordan, who was in the driver's seat, was slurring his words and had bloodshot eyes. When questioned, Jordan claimed he had taken a wrong turn and needed help moving his car off the tracks.

Police reported that Jordan initially refused to exit the vehicle until officers ordered both him and his female passenger to step out. He told officers he had been out at several venues in the Winter Park and Casselberry area, most recently visiting Rachel’s Gentleman's Club.

Following a series of sobriety tests, officers determined Jordan was under the influence and placed him under arrest for DUI. When officers attempted to take him to their patrol car, Jordan reportedly resisted. A subsequent search of his person revealed cocaine in his pants pocket.

Aftermath and Release

Jordan was booked into the Orange County Jail and later released on bond Tuesday afternoon. As he exited the jail, he declined to answer reporters' questions and left in a luxury vehicle.

Body camera footage from the Maitland Police Department captured parts of the arrest, including Jordan repeatedly identifying himself as "Michael Jordan’s son" and expressing frustration about his situation. The footage also shows officers urging him to exit the vehicle due to an oncoming train.

Marcus Jordan’s Background

Jordan played college basketball for the University of Central Florida (UCF) from 2009 to 2012 before graduating from the Rosen College of Hospitality Management in 2013. He is also known for his previous relationship with Larsa Pippen, the ex-wife of his father’s former Chicago Bulls teammate, Scottie Pippen. The couple ended their relationship in 2024 after dating for nearly two years.

This is not Jordan’s first encounter with law enforcement. In 2012, he pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in Omaha, Nebraska. He was initially charged with obstructing a police officer, but that charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, and Jordan is expected to appear in court at a later date.
