Officer-Involved Shooting in Claremont Under Investigation

Claremont, CA – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) Homicide Bureau is investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place in Claremont on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 4:32 p.m. on the 900 block of Fenn Court during a follow-up by Claremont Police Department officers regarding an ongoing family disturbance involving a restraining order and eviction.

Incident Details

Two uniformed Claremont police officers arrived at the location and observed a 57-year-old male suspect leaving the residence. When the officers exited their vehicle and attempted to contact him, the suspect produced a handgun, leading to an officer-involved shooting.

After the shooting, Claremont officers immediately provided medical aid to the suspect, who suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. Emergency responders from the Los Angeles County Fire Department continued life-saving efforts, and the suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a few hours later.

Authorities recovered the suspect’s handgun at the scene.
