Trump Delays Mexico Tariffs in Exchange for Border Troops

Mexico’s president announced on Monday that the tariffs President Trump recently introduced against Mexico have been postponed for one month.

Tariff Delay Agreement

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that after speaking with U.S. President Donald Trump, they agreed to delay the planned tariffs. The White House also confirmed this decision.

As part of the agreement, Mexico will send 10,000 National Guard troops to its northern border immediately to help stop drug trafficking into the U.S., especially fentanyl. In return, the U.S. has pledged to take action against the smuggling of high-powered weapons into Mexico.

Meanwhile, tariffs on imports from Canada and China remain in place.
