Store Employee Strikes Man After Alleged Theft
LANCASTER, CA — A man was hospitalized with head injuries after an alleged theft attempt led to a violent confrontation at Wonder Market on Avenue I and Fern Street earlier today.
According to the store owner, the man attempted to steal from the market, prompting an employee to strike him with a metal bar. Witnesses reported that the employee hit the man twice in the head with the bar, causing him to stumble into the street, where he was then struck by a passing car. The man managed to get back onto the sidewalk, but the employee allegedly struck him two more times in the head.
The suspect was arrested for attempted theft and taken to the hospital for treatment of his head injuries. However, some witnesses have raised concerns about the store employee’s actions, stating that the employee went too far. They believe the employee should also be arrested, possibly for assault with a deadly weapon or even attempted homicide, due to the severity of the beating.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet made any decisions regarding charges against the store employee.
