Stay Safe: Palmdale Opens Warming Center for the Weekend Cold Snap

PALMDALE, CA — With temperatures expected to drop over the weekend, the City of Palmdale is opening its warming center at Victory Outreach, located at 37419 25th St. East. The center will be open from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. from Friday, Feb. 7 to Sunday, Feb. 9. If you need transportation to the center, call 661/733-3823.

In the High Desert, winter nights can get dangerously cold, even after warm days. The combination of freezing temperatures and wind can cause wind chills that put people at risk of hypothermia, a condition where the body loses heat too quickly.

The City advises everyone to take extra care during this cold spell. For more tips and help, visit Ready.LACounty.gov/cold. You can also call 2-1-1 for emergency services and preparedness information, available 24/7. For more resources, visit www.211la.org.
