Minibike Meet Disrupts Antelope Valley, Leading to Crashes and Injuries
On Sunday, February 23, 2025, a minibike riders' meetup, which was promoted on social media, drew hundreds of riders to the Antelope Valley, causing significant disruptions across the area.
Early in the day, local authorities began receiving complaints about minibike riders obstructing traffic, weaving in and out of lanes, and engaging in reckless behavior. Several drivers reported incidents of being taunted or forced to maneuver around the riders, creating dangerous driving conditions.
The most severe incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of San Francisquito Canyon Road and Elizabeth Lake Road. A collision between a group of minibike riders and a Harley Davidson motorcycle led to a crash that left the motorcyclist with severe injuries. He was rushed to Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster and is reportedly in critical condition.
Later in the afternoon, another crash involving minibike riders took place at 4:15 p.m. near the intersection of 10th Street West and Technology Drive in Palmdale. Witnesses say two minibike riders collided under unclear circumstances, leaving one of them, an underage male, with serious injuries. He was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to Antelope Valley Medical Center.
The second rider involved in the crash reportedly fled the scene, and authorities believe he may be a wanted fugitive, making the incident a felony hit-and-run.
Family members of the injured rider reportedly refused to cooperate with law enforcement and removed the minibike from the scene in multiple vehicles, further complicating the investigation.
At this time, no further details are available as investigations continue into these incidents. Local authorities urge the public to come forward with any information that could help with the ongoing inquiries.
