Husband Charged with Murder in Deadly Encino Shooting of Wife

VAN NUYS, CA — District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced today that Sean Farzan, a 64-year-old man from Santa Monica, has been charged with the murder of his 54-year-old wife, Linda Farzan, in a shooting that took place in Encino on February 5, 2025. The shooting occurred as Linda was leaving a religious meeting with their teenage son.

“This was a tragic and deeply disturbing shooting that took place in front of a child,” said District Attorney Hochman. “No family should ever have to endure such a tragedy. We will do everything in our power to ensure that the person responsible is held fully accountable for this senseless and brutal crime. We will continue to support the victim’s loved ones as this case moves forward.”

Farzan is facing charges of one count of first-degree murder and one count of felony child abuse under circumstances likely to cause great bodily injury or death. He is being held without bail and will be arraigned on February 20, 2025, at the Van Nuys Courthouse.

If convicted as charged, Farzan could face life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The shooting occurred amid the Farzans’ pending divorce, and after the incident, Sean Farzan fled on foot but was arrested nearby. The case is being prosecuted by the Family Violence Division and was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
