Woman with Knife Shot by Police at Pacoima Motel
On Friday morning, police shot a woman at a motel in Pacoima after she allegedly advanced on officers with a knife. The incident took place around 9:40 a.m. at a location on the 10000 block of San Fernando Road.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers responded to a report suggesting a possible kidnapping. The caller claimed she was being held at the motel against her will.
Upon arrival, officers found the woman, believed to be the caller, armed with a knife. During the investigation inside the motel room, she became upset and reportedly held the knife to her own neck. The officers then moved back to the doorway for safety.
Police say they repeatedly asked the woman to drop the knife, but she refused and moved toward them. At that point, officers fired, hitting the woman. She dropped the knife and collapsed onto a bed.
Paramedics took the woman to a hospital. While police confirmed a knife was found at the scene, they did not release details about her current condition. No officers were injured during the incident.
The LAPD has launched an investigation into the shooting.
