Tragic Bus Accident in Guatemala Claims Over 50 Lives
At least 51 people are confirmed dead after a bus fell off a bridge early Monday morning on the outskirts of Guatemala City. The bus, which was coming from Progreso, northeast of the capital, plunged 115 feet into a polluted stream, landing upside down and partially submerged.
A multi-vehicle crash caused the bus to fall, and many passengers, including children, were seriously injured. Firefighting teams responded quickly, but the situation was dire.
Guatemala's President, Bernardo Arévalo, expressed his deepest condolences and declared a national day of mourning to honor the victims.
